Cod Cabin

Rates:

• $250 per night (Monday to Thursday)

• $270 per night (Friday to Sunday)

• Prices are for up to 4 guests. Additional guests: $50 per person, per night.

Nestled right on the banks of the Severn River, our rustic Cod Cabin offers an authentic bush escape. The river is a haven for anglers, providing a rare opportunity to catch and release Murray cod and yellowbelly in a pristine environment.

From the cabin, you’ll have access to 8km of exclusive riverfront and 1,500 acres of bushland, perfect for fishing, exploring, and reconnecting with nature.

Features and Amenities:

• Rustic charm: Built from slabbed timber for an authentic outback feel.

• Self-contained: Includes a 240L fridge, cooking facilities, and all necessary utensils, cutlery, and crockery.

• Eco-powered: The cabin runs on solar power and features a cozy wood-fired heater.

• Bathroom facilities: Enjoy hot showers and basic bathroom amenities.

• Sleeping arrangements: 6 single beds and 1 double bed. (Please note: Bedding and linen are not provided.)

Important Information:

• The cabin is accessible by 4WD only due to the rugged terrain.

This cabin features a double bed in its loft for the ability to cater for small groups and families.

A Tailored Experience for Everyone:

Whether you’re an angler at heart or simply seeking a peaceful escape, the Kingfisher Cabin caters to both. Cast a line together, or let one of you relax with a picnic box, take a soothing dip in the elegant outdoor bath, or indulge in a massage or facial while surrounded by nature’s beauty.

Fishing Options:

• Catch and release in the Severn River.

• Catch and enjoy: Keep one trout per person from the stocked dam for a delicious, fresh meal.

• Access to 2km of rugged riverfront and two stocked dams teeming with bass, silver perch, and golden perch.

Fishing at Our Dams

At Bens Falls Retreat, we’re proud to offer two picturesque dams, each a haven for fishing enthusiasts. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or just looking to relax by the water, our dams provide a tranquil and rewarding experience.

A Brief History

Our dams were originally stocked in 2007:

• Dam 1: Stocked with bass, silver perch, and golden perch.

• Dam 2: Stocked with rainbow trout.

In 2020, both dams were restocked with bass, silver perch, and golden perch, ensuring plenty of action for anglers.

Current Stock

• Dam 2: In August 2023, we introduced 180 plate-sized rainbow trout to the dam. These are available for catch and eat exclusively for Kingfisher Cabin guests.

Fishing Guidelines

• Catch and Release: Encouraged for all species except the rainbow trout in Dam 2, which Kingfisher Cabin guests can enjoy as a fresh meal (limit of one trout per person).
